About Indigo Productions
Founded by Max Rosen, Indigo Productions is a New York City-based video editing and production company. Indigo Productions has deep experience creating animated video productions, motion graphics, and 3D graphics. We have a roster of top animators and animation directors that can bring your animation or motion graphics project to life.
Why You Need An Animated Video
Lately, we’re seeing cool animated TV commercials, product demos, and even full-length features everywhere! And there’s a good reason for that—animated video productions are highly effective ways to tell a story, promote your product, or catch a viewer’s attention.
Here are some of the most common uses for animated videos and motion graphics out there—all of which Indigo Productions can create!
3D Product Demos
If you see a photorealistic new phone, watch, or piece of hardware rotating in space, chances are it’s not a real video. Animation and motion graphics are increasingly used to show off physical objects. We’ll help create a CGI model of your product, and show it off without the need for cameras and lighting.
Animated Commercials
Grab audience attention with colorful transitions, special effects, and captivating animated textures. Almost every TV or online video ad you see has animated elements, which Indigo can create. You can also combine real actors with animated elements to make your concept unique. Whatever you want to create, we can develop the right animated video production.
Corporate Animated Videos
Sometimes a sales or product video for your business can be a little dry. That’s where animation and motion graphics can really help. Animation helps highlight critical points and value propositions, introduce team members with a lower third or splashy background, and create some extra intrigue for your looping screens at the office.
Animated Event Videos
Make your conference or event stand out with a unique animated video concept. Participants take the stage to a custom animated intro featuring their names and titles, products splash onto the screen with pizzazz, and your annual meetings get a memorable and high production value appearance. Perfect for investor conferences, trade shows, and company meetings.
Social Media Ads and Content
When you’re video is one in an endless scroll through dynamic short-form content, it can be REALLY hard to stand out. That’s why the world’s top brands are increasingly relying on cool motion graphics and animated elements to make their ads and content pop out in the feed. We’ll help you create something special in the correct format.
Mixed Reality Videos
One of the more exciting developments in animated video production is the ability to combine live-action footage with animated backgrounds and elements. Using a green screen and other tools, Indigo can have your actor walk into a simulated space, and even interact with animated products and elements. A perfect format for remote activations.
With so many options available, Indigo Productions can help you create the right plan for your animated video production needs. Our team is standing by to answer any questions.

Our Animated Video Production Services
No need to hire multiple companies and work with dozens of contractors to make your animated or motion graphics project a reality. Indigo Productions can provide all the expertise and services you need for your project. Here are some of the things our production team can handle—at world-class quality.
Visual Concept
When you make an animated video, you start with a blank slate. What will it look like? What style is the right fit? Our Art Directors and Creative Pros can create the style, the world, and the movement that will anchor your project.
Scripting
As Alfred Hitchcock says, you need three things to make a great film: “The script, the script, and the script!” Fortunately Indigo has writers with expertise in a variety of subjects who can help create a concept that works, and a great film to follow.
3D Animation
Classic cartoons use a 2D, or two-dimensional look. But to make objects and textures rotate in space in a simulated environment, you need 3D animation tools and talent. And it’s all part of the Indigo Animated Video Production offering.
Special Effects
Tools like Flame, Cinema 4D, Maya, and After Effects are some of the industry standard programs to create sparkles, flames, and soaring superheroes. Our team is well versed in creating sophisticated special effects that your audience will love.
Art direction
A unique visual approach can help bring new life to your commercial. Add intriguing graphics to make your footage feel complete and cohesive—even if the footage is from different sources or projects.
Editing
Great animated video productions also need great editors. Once your animated files and videos are created, the editors take over to fine-tune the timing, music, and length to make sure your animated production is the best it can be.
Storyboarding
Most animated video productions include a storyboard as part of the process. A storyboard is like a comic strip version of your project, showing a combination of illustrations, still images, and the script. We’ll create one of these to help align on the vision.
Direction
Even if you’re an experienced production client, the right director can own the vision of your project, provide some outside perspective, and make sure every creative element is in its right place. We work with some of the world’s best directors and will find the right one for your project.
Success Stories
Don’t take our word for it. Here’s what our customers have to say:
I hired Indigo for an important shoot at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Frick Collection in New York City. I'm happy to say that they did an outstanding job! I'd recommend them without hesitation to anyone who wants to work with a world-class video production company.
— Production Specialist
I am encouraging publishers, marketing teams and media companies to work with Indigo Productions whenever the opportunity is given.
Our publishing company in London has commissioned Indigo to prep and shoot a short film in central Manhattan, New York for one of our biggest clients, Salesforce – and the service has been excellent, to say the least.
—Executive Producer
I'm constantly impressed by Indigo Productions, they're an amazing company. As a Preferred Partner & Vendor here at Salesforce, they've created over 50 videos for us over the years. Indigo has a great team of professionals whose work is consistently innovative, visually stunning, and most importantly, masterful in delivering a powerful message.
— Enterprise Director
Indigo did a great job filming some of the biggest names in film and television over 3 intense days in a high-profile 'mission-critical' project. They interacted with everyone with ease and complete professionalism despite an extremely challenging schedule. Everyone who has seen the finished video has raved about it. I recommend Indigo highly.
— Consultant
Indigo was straightforward, responsive, and ready to collaborate. This was my first time producing a live stream, and Indigo was patient with the multitude of questions
- big & small - their response time was unparalleled. When it came to the day, we had an A+ crew from Indigo, and the stream went off without a hitch. Thank you, Indigo!
— Production Coordinator
Massively impressed with Indigo's work on our corporate animated explainer video. Starting with our (sad) script, they turned it into an engaging, visual, and attention-grabbing sequence filled with symbols and emotional attachment. Additionally, Max and his team are reasonable and good to work with...we'll be back for more video work.
— Managing Director
Working with Indigo has been fantastic. Indigo brought vision, creativity, flexibility, leadership, and the rare ability to bring our ideas to the screen in the most dynamic way possible. I’m also delighted that they were able to scale up with us as the scope of the project expanded. Two thumbs way up for Indigo!
— Director of Content
Indigo is truly a team; your team. They jumped in with both feet to make something new and exciting happen and went above and beyond in quality, scope & creativity. The head of the company and team is transparent, results-driven, and highly effective. So good I almost want to keep it a secret so I have them all to myself! LOL.
— Senior VP of Worldwide Content
After an extensive search for the right production company for a promotional video for a new fund we were raising, we narrowed our search to 3 firms. The quality of the work we saw on the Indigo website brought them to the top of the list. Indigo was the first company we met with in person, and we knew without meeting the others that Indigo was our choice.

How Animated Video Productions Work
If you’ve never made an animated or motion graphics project before, the process can be a bit strange. It combines some elements of traditional video productions, with some stages being much easier and more flexible, and other stages requiring more thought and planning.
Working with Indigo makes Animated Video Productions a relative breeze, especially if you understand how the process works. Here’s a sample timeline for making your motion graphics project.
Step 1: Assess your goals
If you’re reading this article, you’ve probably realized you need an animated video production of some kind. The first step is to figure out your needs. Is this for sales, promotions, or entertainment? Are you trying to drive awareness, conversions, or educate your audience? And do you already have a concept and script, or need some help getting ideas together? Knowing the desired outcome of your animated video production will help our team put together the perfect plan.
Step 2: Get A Quote
Once you figure out your goals and general parameters, the next step is to speak to one of our production experts about how to make it happen. We’ll review your goals, timeline, and budget and put together a plan and cost estimate. Because animation work can be done in an office rather than on location, it can be easier and more economical than a full production. But it still takes time and expertise. At Indigo Productions we pride ourselves on delivering world-class quality work while keeping costs as low and efficient as possible.
Step 3: Concepting and Creative Direction
Great! You’ve decided to hire Indigo Productions and it’s time to get to work. What’s next? Because animation can take so much time, the creative concepting and planning process is critical. Before we start carefully crafting each frame of animation, we want to make sure we’re all aligned on the right idea, look, and feel. During the concepting and creative direction phase, we’ll make sure that we have a strong idea that delivers on your goals, and brainstorm a look and design that will inform the entire project. Before we start drawing, keyframing, and rendering effects, this important work needs to be done.
Step 4: Scripting
As we’ve seen in some major motion pictures and some disappointing TV shows, even the greatest special effects can’t save a bad story. And we agree! An animated video production can only be as good as its script. That’s where our team of experienced writers comes in. Indigo has a roster of writers who are experienced in writing for screens big and small, who will help you think through the structure and content of your animated video production. We’ll figure out any on-screen voiceover or dialogue, write titles and animation direction, and pull together descriptions of any key visuals. After scripting and creative direction, you’ll have a very good idea of how your project is going to turn out.
Step 5: Storyboarding (Optional)
Depending on the budget and difficulty of your animation or motion graphics progress, we may recommend creating a storyboard. This allows us to sketch out every visual and movement in a simplified form so that we can see how the project flows in real-time. Storyboards typically look like comic strips, with simple black and white visuals paired with script text and arrows indicating movement and animation. But in some cases, we’ll turn the storyboard into an animatic, in which we edit the storyboard images into an actual video with rough music and voiceover. This is almost like watching a finished version of the project, making it easy to spot problems and make adjustments.
Step 6: Art and animation
With all the preparation complete, it’s time to start animating. We’ll identify the right software and experts to use to make your animation style and script into an excellent and effective video. Animators have significant control over the visuals on screen, using a combination of techniques to make graphics and objects move and transition. Sometimes they’ll draw frame by frame. Or they can use keyframes, which instruct the software to automatically transition between two different states. With each pass and each review, the animation will become more developed until we arrive at the final product. Depending on your project, we might also have a live-action shoot as part of your animated video production, where we’ll shoot speakers, interviews, or live product demos to be combined with animation.
Step 7: Edit, Sound Mix and Color Correction
Also known as finishing, this step is where all the final details of your project come together. Once the final animations are “locked,” editors will combine the visuals with sound, video, voiceover, and other elements, cutting together a sequence representing the final project. We’ll use color software like DaVinci Resolve to make sure every frame is the right level of brightness, contrast, and color tone. And then we’ll refine and filter the sound to work for your format, making sure levels are correct and dialogue is easy to understand.
It sounds like a lot of work, but our experienced team will make it seem easy.
